HOT TOPICS FALCON

Need more info about our new FALCON? Check here the hot topics about our new carbon board.

The Falcon is intended for demanding riders looking for a kiteboard that offers all the benefits
of a stiff kiteboard, without sacrificing comfort. Big Air or high performance freeride, the
Falcon can do it.

The Falcon finds its way perfectly in between the Shotgun and Oceana, finally giving the
option to our Shotgun riders to have a board that fits this gap.

The light weight of the Falcon makes turning and popping even easier, allowing you to build
more power for your take-off. You can edge harder and point your board even further upwind
at your takeoff. This results in an even more upward force and therefore higher jump. The
straighter outline makes it easy to keep your edge and keep those extra knots. The rail
channels at the bottom keep you in control during take-off and landing. This also gives the
feeling of control during fast riding. The double concave ensures that the board is stable on
the water because the board is sucked down a little bit. Which gives you confidence to go for
it, even in the roughest conditions.

130*39 / 133*39 / 135*40 / 137*40.5 / 139*41 / 141*41 / 144*41.5.

The relatively thin tips give the board enough flexibility during choppy conditions. Which
makes the FALCON a very comfortable board. Especially for a carbon!

Yes, The weight difference is 300 grams for the small sizes and over 600 grams for the
bigger sized boards.

In one sentence, where the Shotgun ends in performance the Falcon takes it over filling the
gap toward the Oceana. But that’s not the whole story, read further in our kiteboard guide.

After one year since launching our Falcon with the slider track system, we received extensive feedback from riders around the globe. A recurring issue was the difficulty in adjusting the sliders due to fine sand entering the track, requiring thorough rinsing before smooth adjustment was possible. Another issue that occurred was that riders using screws other than the official Lieuwe screws were able to screw all the way through the board.

To address these issues while still keeping the insert option available—the original reason for developing this system—we decided to return to a more traditional insert track. This new system maintains the same insert spacing, without the risk of the track getting stuck or screws penetrating through the board.

Although this change adds a small amount of weight compared to the standard slider track, we continue to offer the slider track option for riders who prefer that setup.

How do I take care of my carbon board?

Carbon boards are designed for high performance, low weight, and a lively feel on the water. With the right care, your board will stay in great condition.

After riding

  • Rinse your board with fresh water after use, especially after sessions in salt water or sandy environments.
  • Pay extra attention to footstrap areas, inserts, and fins to prevent sand or salt buildup.
  • Before each session, check that there are no small stones or hard debris trapped under the footpads. Stones can create concentrated point loads under the bindings, which carbon boards are particularly sensitive to.

Transport & storage

  • Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight or extreme heat (for example inside a hot car), as excessive heat can affect resins over time.
  • Use a board bag during transport to protect against dings, pressure points, and impact damage.
  • Do not place heavy objects on top of the board, especially during travel.

Handling & use

  • Carbon boards are strong and stiff, but like all high-performance materials they are less forgiving when it comes to sharp, localised impacts. Point loading—such as pressure from small stones under footpads—can cause structural damage, even without visible external marks.
  • Try to avoid dropping the board or hitting hard objects such as rails, rocks, or obstacles.
  • Small scratches in the finish are normal and purely cosmetic, but any deeper damage should be checked to prevent water ingress.

Inspection & maintenance

  • Regularly check inserts, fins, and screws for proper tightness (without overtightening).
  • If the board has suffered a hard impact or shows signs of damage, we recommend having it inspected or repaired promptly by a professional.

With normal care and mindful use, a carbon board will reward you with excellent performance, durability, and a long service life.

Everyone deserves a unique board art design. Therefore we have a broad range of design series and custom options, which are crafted after you submitted your order. This is what we call Made to Order. Thanks to years of crafting experience we are able to craft and ship your unique board quite fast.

The lead time varies with the chosen type of board, priority craft level and shipping options:

- Boards from Stock* are shipped the next business day.

LIEUWE offers free shipping to the European Union, the United States, and Canada. Outside these regions, shipping rates may vary, but are always clearly indicated in the check-out process. In most regions our transport companies also offer priority shipping.

We aim to deliver a Hassle Free Worldwide Shipping, which means you should not be bothered by unexpected fees and taxes once you purchased your Lieuwe.

This means that orders outside the EU are shipped under the incoterms DDP. DDP (Delivery Duty Paid), which means that Lieuwe Boards assumes all of the responsibility, risk, and costs associated with transporting goods until the buyer receives, accepts or transfers them at the destination port.
Lieuwe Boards will make every effort to ensure that all orders are delivered within specific dates for certain locations after receiving the order. If this is not possible for any reason the customer will be informed by appropriate means (email, post or telephone) and their money will be refunded. Reimbursement will take place as soon as possible, and at the latest within a period of 14 days from the order being received.

When selecting your shipping option, you can make a selection between 'standard' or 'priority' shipping. The standard option is provided for free in most regions. No dealer in your area? Let us know where we should definitely set-up-shop!

The VIP of the questions! This is probably the most important aspect of a board. We suggest you to take a look at our kiteboard size chart. These are the sizes we recommend for all our boards.

Is your weight in between two boards? Then you have to consider your rider style as well. If you like to ride in hard winds and more playfulness and flexibility then you should go for the smaller option. With a smaller board, it’s easier to hold your edge in hard winds. But becomes harder when the wind drops.

Do you like normal to light wind conditions, then you should definitely go for the bigger option. This will give you more stability and control. It will be easier to ride upwind when the wind is low, but it will become harder to hold your edge when the wind starts pumping.

Check our kiteboard buyers guide to learn everything about finding your perfect fit.

Your board should be the right board for you. This is why we offer a variety of board styles that help you progress at any level. Usually, fresh beginners choose our Awesome (yep it is!), Intermediate to advanced freeriders say ‘Shotgun’. Going next level, advanced Big Air riders go huge with our comfortable Falcon carbon board and the pro’s who are always trying to reach new heights choose our Oceana for competition performance.

Hell yes it is! Lieuwe doesn’t just makes board, we craft stories. Do you have an amazing idea that should be implemented on one of our boards? We are the one for you. We can dedicate your board to your favorite artwork, business profile, passions, dreams or even animals.

You can send you request to info@lieuweboards.com. We can also provide help from our graphic designer to work out the details if you need any guidance.

Creating a full custom board costs an additional amount of €300 to the standard price of the board.

The distance between the pads and straps

The longer your body length, the longer de distance between the pads and straps should be. Putting your bindings close to each other will make it more controllable and steerable, you will have a more playful experience. A wider distance between bindings will give more stability when you land a jump. It also makes it easier to handle a lot of power.

The angle of the bindings

When your bindings are more angled, where your toes are more pointed to the tips, you will be able to show some more maneuvers. Comfortable and general kitesurf riders who like to play around will like this more.

When you place your bindings parallel to each other, it will give you more stability, reduces the pressure on the knees, you can bear harder landings. As already said, if you like cruising around comfortably, this one might not be the setup for you.

Important: Keep the angle identical to the other!

Placing it more toe side or heel side?

It is normal to place the pads exactly in the middle. However, if you have smaller/bigger feet you might want to check how your foot fits in the binding. Check if the feet lies centered on the board when it is in the binding. If not? You could adjust to pad so that your feet is in the center of the board. You can choose to put the pad more toe side or heel side. Placing it more on the heel side will give you a better edge, it could improve jumps. But your balance will be less stable.

Yes and No

Yes, all accessories from other brands are suitable for any of the Lieuwe boards  but are limited to some models. The Falcon board is one of the board which i compatible with any, binding and/or handle.

Shotgun/Awesome/Oceana are not copatible with all brands accessories as some brands use their won insert distance such as Carved and Duotone. Your bindings might fit but you only have a few options to find the perfect stance.

Handles

Extra caution is needed when placing strong plastic handles and big air handles on the boards. This is at own risk of the user, some models are created to have fa lot of flex in the middle of the board. Handles from other brands are not as flexible as the Lieuwe handles creating pressure on the fixation spots with possible cracks as result.

The flat size of the fins point to the inside of the board. The rounded side of the fins point to the outside of the board.

The steeper part of the fins should point to the tips.

To be announced!

Our Shotgun and Oceana are perfectly made for riding with boots! Those boards have an extra line of inserts special for boots. The new inserts of the Falcon let you mount any binding or boots that are on the market.

The Oceana gives you the true wakeboard feeling. It is the ultimate wake style monster. It’s dynamic rocker makes it want to go upwind and helps you land even the toughest tricks. Boots or straps, taking your wild thing for a spin will turn the ocean into the craziest jungle gym.

Check our warranty policy if you are considering to ride another of our board with boots. You will lose your warranty claim when using boots on another board.

If you want to take the step to growing on the water, you should definitely take it. The shotgun is an amazing board to take your skills to the next level. It has a lot of upwind capability and comfort, has good grip and stable landings. In short, it is enjoyable for a beginner/intermediate to ride it. If your ambitions lie in becoming better and better, you should go for it. If you like to stay at comfortable and easy riding, the Awesome would be perfect for you.

We regularly receive questions—and occasionally hear rumours—about alleged changes to our board models over the years. We would like to clarify how this process actually works.

Lieuwe Boards designs and manufactures boards with a strong focus on durability, performance, and reliability. When a board model is released, it is a fully developed product that meets our quality and riding standards. That does not mean, however, that we stop learning once a product is launched.

As in many other industries (such as automotive, electronics, or outdoor equipment), we continuously make small, incremental improvements to our products. These may include minor optimisations in lay-up, production techniques, or material selection. Such improvements:

  • do not have a noticeable impact on riding characteristics;
  • do not change the core behaviour or identity of the board;
  • are often too minor to warrant commercial communication.

As part of this ongoing optimisation, production methods can also evolve. For this reason, the colours or visual appearance of boards from earlier production batches may differ slightly from later batches, for example due to updated printing or finishing techniques. These differences are purely cosmetic and do not affect performance, durability, or quality.
An earlier production batch is therefore not “worse” than a later one—it is simply part of a normal development and learning process. The existence of later optimisations does not mean that earlier boards contain a manufacturing defect.

How do we approach warranty and manufacturing defects?

A genuine manufacturing defect will almost always become apparent at an early stage, often during the first sessions or shortly after the board is put into use. If a board has performed without issues for one or more seasons, it is not realistic to retrospectively classify this as a manufacturing defect.

We sometimes see damage or wear after extended use being attributed to supposed model changes or “newer versions” of a board. In most cases, this does not constitute a valid warranty claim. Normal wear and tear, impact damage, or use-related stress are not considered manufacturing defects.

For example, a board that has performed well for months or years does not suddenly become a warranty case simply because small product optimisations have been introduced in the meantime.

In summary
  • Lieuwe boards are not quietly or fundamentally changed after release.
  • Minor internal improvements are part of normal product management.
  • These improvements do not make earlier boards inferior or defective.
  • Warranty applies to demonstrable manufacturing defects, not to ageing, wear, or comparisons with later production runs.

If you are unsure whether your situation qualifies for warranty, please contact us—we assess every case carefully and fairly.

Personalizing your board with a name/phone number/ email address/custom text etc. will cost an additional amount check your price based on your model. Let us know this as soon as you’ve ordered to prevent it might be too late!

A full custom board costs €300 additional to the standard price of the board. This includes choosing the rail color and the graphics on the top and the bottom deck.

Need help or guidance in creating your design? Contact us to get in touch with our designer who can visualize your ideas or to receive guidelines in how to create it.

Yes you can! Contact us to discuss which board you would like to have. Then we will carry out your order manually. info@lieuweboards.com

The core of the board is made of wood. Wood is a natural product which can vary in weight. This depends on whether your board has more wood from the inside or outside of a tree. And whether there is more moisture in the tree.
